Good morning OMS Parents, Students and Community Members,
Thank you all for your support with another successful start to the school year. Now that we are settled into the routines of school I want to remind parents and students of the importance of consistent and regular school attendance. Regular school attendance is essential for students to make satisfactory academic progress. Whenever a student misses class, they have lost an important aspect of education that cannot be duplicated. In order to promote good school attendance and maximize learning opportunities, Orono Middle School students are expected to be to school on time and to attend all classes during the school day. As a public school in the state of Maine we are required to comply with compulsory school attendance expectations defied by the department of education. For more information, our school attendance policies are outlined in our Parent/Student Handbook beginning on page 18.
